India in my heart…
January 26: Republic Day of India! I had celebrated the last ten Republic Days without any break in India. Even last year I had a wonderful celebration with our Pre-novices. And this year I am far away from India. But am I really far away from India? I must admit that geographically ‘yes’ but in my heart I still dwell in India.
India has given me so much. The best period of my life I spent in India. Most of my friends are Indians. In 2000 when I left my country for India I cried quietly. I knew I would be missing my country. But in 2009 when I had to say goodbye to India I cried loudly. I knew how badly I will miss India particularly Calcutta.
It did not take much time for me to make India my second home. The city of Calcutta became my favourite city. I loved to walk on the street of Calcutta. Victoria, Nandan, Rabindra shadan, Howrah, Dharmatala are all close to my heart. Still I hear the sound of the tram. The five days of Durga puja are still vivid in my heart.
I have visited different parts of India, stayed in different places. I came in contact with numerous people. Many of them have left marks in my life. Today as India celebrates Republic Day I remember all Indian people whom I know. May mother India shine…Jay ho India!
